Edward Said, May 8, 2003

The late Edward Said (1935 - 2003), was professor of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University and a sought-after commentator on Middle Eastern politics, as well as America's foremost spokesman for the Palestinian cause. Author of "Orientalism" (1978), an examination of Western perceptions of the Islamic world. His criticism extended to the United States, which he used to call a dishonest broker in the peace process due to its long-standing support for Israel. This video "Imperial Continuity: Palestine, Iraq, and U.S. Policy" (99 min) was produced by University of Washington, May 8, 2003. Care of ResearchChannel.
